A week long Guitar Vacation Retreat in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico,
includes two hours daily (for 5 days) of customized private instruction in classical and
fingerstyle guitar. We also include you in our music related activities outside of
class, listening to local musicians and taking in the sights and sounds of
San Miguel de Allende, a picturesque and historic colonial city founded in 1546.
We, Frances and Jack, are a professional guitar
duo who perform together regularly in San Miguel de Allende.
(See the About Us button at the left.)
During the three-plus years that we have been hosting Guitar Vacation Retreats,
we have worked with dozens of students, and
every Guitar Vacation Retreat has been a unique musical adventure!
Our Guitar Vacation Retreats program is an evolving process itself, which
continues to evolve along with our own music. We teach the tools of the
trade as we practice it, and it's a practical matter of specific skill sets.
Guitarists who want to play the way we do
will get more from studying with us! (A video of us playing live on a
typical Friday night is posted below. Watch it now and see if you like what
we do.)
As working musicians we're busy with our own music
so we accept only one or two students a month.
"I think I can go as far as to say that my one week in San Miguel
was a life-changing experience. I learned many new things about my
capabilities (music-wise, language-wise and culture-wise) and this
opens up many new possibilities for me personally... You very quickly
devised music studies well-suited to my capabilities, which I believe will bear
fruit for me personally for a long time to come." (Doug)

The historic colonial city (pop. 140,000) of San Miguel de Allende
is located in the central highlands of
Mexico, a day's drive from the Texas border, and 3 hours north of Mexico City.
San Miguel is an international artists' colony, with two art schools, many
galleries, and visitors from throughout the world. It also has a thriving
live music scene. Visitors are attracted by San Miguel's mild climate year-round,
its proximity to an international airport, and its colonial architecture,
colorful history, and authentic Mexican village charm.
